Both Mild & Warm

Phriday August 23
Enjoy the cooler pattern;  summer heat will return soon.  Morn’n ☕️ time.
Cool weekend ahead.  Today & Saturday could present a few showers, or a thunderstorm, as a Low spins just west of Brookings/Crescent City.  It will be much wetter around the Puget Sound & southern BC, with the potential for nearly an inch of rain by Saturday night.  Sunday looks pleasant and drier.  As we enter the last week of August, our next HEAT UP will begin.
While a weak Low brings a chance for a shower or two over the northern Puget Sound on Mon/Tue, the rest of the PNW will begin the week of Aug 26-30 on the dry side, with temperatures warming up a bit each day.  Good chance for a few 90 degree plus readings by Thu or Fri in western OR, SW WA.  Puget Sound will dry out by late Tue, with temps reaching into the 80s late week.
Labor Day Weekend:  While it will be rather warm on Saturday, model runs suggest an onshore flow will begin Sunday, for cooler inland temps, along with possible thunderstorms building over the Cascades, esp by Labor Day.  Not a bad holiday weekend to end ’summer vacation 2024’ for many.
The short week after Labor Day (Sep 3-6), is charting as dry & pleasant, although on the MUGGY side.  A SW flow aloft will set off a few thunderstorms over the Cascades, moving south-to-north.  We won’t rule out the possibility for a thunderstorm to drift over the eastern edge of the Willamette Valley.
The first full weekend of September is trending dry, with temps in the 70s / low 80s.  Nice.
