I want to thank
you for your accurate and helpful weather
information. On Friday, November 30, 2007 I printed
out your forecast in which you foretold of probable
high winds, snow, and heavy rain for the southwest
Washington area (and other areas) where I live. You
noted this was a potentially dangerous system.
Because of that, I made a decision to stay at my
home on the south side of the Chehalis River rather
than try to go to town on Sunday night...which meant
I was HOME safe during the flooding (my farm is on a
hill above the valley) rather than being shut off
and unable to return. Good information!
Thanks again, I've been a fan, but now am even more
grateful!

2007
There was a weather
forecaster in Philadelphia, PA, back in the early
'90's who was so "into" the weather that he'd call
the classical radio station I listened to, just to
talk shop with the DJ who was a friend of his. In
between the morning installments of Bach, Mozart,
Haydn and all the rest, they'd talk about all the
weather features he was looking at on his radar
screen at home, before he finally made the drive
into work. That was the first time I'd ever realized
that weather can be fun and fascinating, as opposed
to just cursing it when it was bad and enjoying it
when it was good. I started my days like that for
almost two years, and when I left Philly, I mourned
that little routine.
And then you came along.
Back in Philly, we lived in an apartment in town and
only dreamed of having land. Now we're in the
glorious PNW on a farm of our own, and I look
forward to Mondays and Fridays when I get to grab a
‘cuppa’ and sit down again with someone who really
enjoys describing the weather, good or bad, near or
far away; one who also understands how important
weather is for those of us working on the land. I
also love the little quotes you send out with each
forecast; I've sent many of them off to friends.

A ways back, I posted
to a gardening list about your PNW weather heads-up
which happened to mention cold in the east. Later, I
got an email that said she had read your posting and
had taken a winter coat even though the mainstream
forecasters had predicated a continuation of mild
weather for that area. Her friends thought she was
nuts.
She was the only one who was warm and thanked me
profusely for the posting. Thank YOU, Rufus!!!
